If we don’t understand Exodus, we don’t fully understand Jesus.
It's a story of slavery and freedom, fear and faith, wandering and worship. But more than anything else, it's a story about God.
Encountering Yahweh is a ten-session, in-depth study of Exodus that invites you into the wilderness to see how God reveals Himself, forms His people, and prepares the way for Jesus.
Now you can download a FREE preview excerpt of Encountering Yahweh, including the introduction and a complete sample session. What makes Encountering Yahweh different?
Many Bible studies focus primarily on information transfer or isolated application.
Encountering Yahweh is designed to help participants:
-
trace themes woven throughout Scripture,
-
understand how Exodus shapes the gospel story,
-
recognize how the Old Testament points to Christ,
-
and engage God’s Word both thoughtfully and relationally.
Rather than rushing through content, this study invites slow, prayerful engagement with Scripture that leads not only to understanding, but transformation.

"Encountering Yahweh is well written, easy to follow, and allows you to study Exodus deeply. Katy's study shows how God is in control and Scriptures always point to Jesus."
— Donna B.
"This study provided an eye-opening look at how the story of Exodus perfectly parallels the path to salvation. I really enjoyed seeing how these ancient events connect to the Gospel in such a meaningful way, as well as the 'Aha!' moments where the Old and New Testaments click together."
— Tracy E.
"Very insightful and gets the mind moving instead of just going through the motions."
— Summer H.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
Why study the Bible?
Too often, we are encouraged to go to the Bible for answers about us. We want to know who we are or what we should do—and to be sure, they are good questions and the Bible does speak to them.
But the Bible is primarily a book about God, not us. It tells us who He is, what He has done and is doing in the world. We study the Bible first and foremost to know God better. After all, Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30), and we cannot love someone we don’t know.
Why Exodus?
Many of us avoid the Old Testament, seeing it as outdated and unnecessary now that Christ has come. But the Old Testament is vital for understanding God, and Exodus is foundational for the rest of Scripture!
In the story of Exodus, we see the pattern of rescue and redemption God established long before Christ walked the earth. And what is that pattern? That God is a good, faithful, promise-keeping God who delivers His people not on the basis of who they are or what they have done, but because of who He is.
